Family Relationships
Children living in an institution
Placement
in foster families

A programme piloted by the organisation Care for Children aims to establish a foster care system in Vietnam for children living in an institution. There are currently around 33,000 children, including many disabled children, in Vietnamese institutions.
Care for Children partners with national and local authorities and services to provide the resources and training needed to bring about structural change in the way orphaned and abandoned children are cared for. The idea is to place these children with foster families rather than leaving them to grow up in an institution.
The first phase of the project aims to equip social workers with the skills and knowledge they need to transform the care system in favour of placing children with foster families.
