Inclusion through social activities for children and teenagers in Jaffa, Israel

Fondation Dora provided financial assistance in the development and running of a centre in Jaffa, Israel, that organises inclusive activities for children and teenagers, some of whom suffer from a physical or mental disability.  This centre opened at the beginning of 2016.

The centre in Jaffa, founded and managed by Krembo Wings, offers children and teenagers of diverse backgrounds, religions and cultures the chance to participate together in a range of social and cultural activities. The group consists of 15 children and teenagers with a disability and 30 non-disabled teenage volunteers (but some of whom are at risk), who play the role of 'counsellors'. The group is led by six 'senior counsellors' aged from 16 to 18 years who have received specific training to create and organise activities. The group runs and carries out various leisure, music and art activities and facilitates social interaction between young people from very different backgrounds. The initiative is supervised by an adult coordinator from Krembo Wings.

More details are available in the attached report supplied by Krembo Wings.
